New Monasticism
Rowan Williams wrote that historically, whenever the church fails to be what its members expect it to be, a new monasticism has arisen. “New Monasticism” seems to be a buzz phrase these days. Here at Ffald-y-Brenin a scattered group of people (The Caleb Community) are linking with us as we explore a form of new Monasticism which is church affirming, life-giving, burrowing deep into the heart of God and thoroughly grounded in the needs of this world. We draw on the rich history of the Celtic missional movement, the spirituality of the desert and almost 2000 years of monastic Christian experiences.
Our “Live a New Life” days offer the opportunity to learn more about our ethos, principles and practices. For those who want to explore further we have our Caleb Community Information pack available on our Resources page.
See also our Caleb Community Conference information which is pertinent for those who are members or affiliates.
